Windsurf or Kiteboard Columbia River Gorge (Hood River), Oregon

The Columbia River Gorge in Oregon on the Hood River is heaven for windsurfers and kite boarders. Riders come from around the world to surf the perfect conditions of aconstant easterly wind and strong westerly river current. During the summer, breezes funnel through the gorge, producing winds that regularly blow 10 to 35 miles per hour, while river temperatures range from 55 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit. The gorge is also a great place just to watch the action. Or you can do both by taking lessons to get you up on a board in no time! The gorge is just an hour East of Portland, Oregon and is also home to many wineries and a few breweries.
