Windsurf or Kitesurf Los Barriles, East Cape of Baja California Sur, Mexico
The East Cape (Cabo del Este) of Baja California, Mexico is a world renowned location for windurfers and kiteboarders. Baja Peninsula draws many wind sport enthusiasts due to its relaxed, easy pace of life combined with the clear, warm water and perfect wind conditions - consistent strong winds (20-25kts). For kitesurfing in particular, the steady side-shore winds, smooth medium-sized swells, wide sandy beaches, and huge area to kite make Los Barriles perfect for people at all experience levels.
The best time to go is November through April. During this season there is the combination of El Nortes (northerly fronts) and local thermal winds to make it possible to kite almost every day during the winter season.
You can rent gear and get lessons in several places in the town and on the beach.
