Wine Tasting in Hunter Valley, Australia

Located less than 200 km north of Sydney the Hunter Valley is one of the best known and highly regarded wine regions in Australia. The Hunter Valley, just west of Newcastle near the central coastline of New South Wales, provides the perfect weather and soil to produce high quality Shiraz and Semillon (considered the iconic wine of this region) wines along with highly regarded Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The region attracts wine lovers from throughout the world and has become the 6th most visited area in Australia. Tours of the local wineries may be arranged with transportation running the gamut from luxury motor coaches to “Chopper 4’s”, 3 wheeled motorcycles that can accommodate up to 3 passengers and the driver. Resorts and hotels are spread throughout the valley including some that provide for accommodations in lodges nestled within their own vineyards. The history of wine making in this region harkens back to the early 1800’s and if you have dreamed of visiting some of Australia’s historic wine growing estates and cellars then a trip to the Hunter Valley is an important addition to your list.
