Wine Tasting in Marlborough, New Zealand

The modern wine industry in New Zealand had its origins in Marlborough. The region has over 60% of the wine grape plantings in the country and boasts world class Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines. Located in the northeastern corner of New Zealand’s South Island, Blenheim, the largest city nearby and also the capital of the Marlborough region, sits due west of Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand. The Marlborough festival, held in February each year, provides a perfect opportunity to explore the region, the wines and the growing foodie culture that has evolved in this picturesque corner of the globe. The breathtaking landscape of the region and the location near Marlborough Sounds create opportunities galore for boating, fishing and appreciation of the abundant sea and bird life in addition to the opportunity to visit some of the great wineries found anywhere. A trip to New Zealand may already be one of your dreams and including a visit to the Marlborough region on your list to experience the winemaking and grape growing culture will make that fantasy even more special.
