Wine Tasting in Mendoza, Argentina

Two-thirds of the wine production in Argentina emanates from the Mendoza Province placing this area at the center of the country’s significant winemaking industry. The vineyards are planted at some of the highest elevations found anywhere in the world, as much as 1,200 meters above sea level on the slopes of the Argentine Andes. The robust industry focuses on Malbec as the primary type of grape harvested but that production is followed closely by harvests of Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Chardonnay. The city of Mendoza, the largest in Cuyo Region and the 4th largest city in Argentina has over 1.6 million inhabitants. Activities of local interest, in addition to wine tasting and touring the vineyards, include adventures such as rafting on the Mendoza River, mountain climbing, horseback riding, skiing, paragliding and fishing. South American wines have become quite popular in the circles of vinophiles and a trip to Argentina’s Mendoza Province to see the estates, taste the wines and experience the Argentine culture might just be what’s missing from your list. There are a number of boutique wineries producing the highest quality limited production wines that are just waiting for your visit.
