Wine Tasting in Piedmont Province, Italy
The towns of Alba and Asti in the northwest corner of Italy are the heart of the winemaking industry of Piedmont Province producing what are referred to as Piemonte wines. The distinctive wines of this region are the product of the Nebbiolo grape as well as the varietals Barbera and Dolcetto. The first references to winemaking in this part of Italy date to the 14th century and the industry was heavily influenced by its French neighbors.
