Wine Tasting in
Barossa Valley, Australia
View Original Description
South Australia is home to the Barossa Valley, Down Under’s oldest and most famous wine producing region. The Australian wine industry has grown significantly in recent times and its wines are now known and appreciated world wide. Many of Australia’s finest wine producers make their headquarters in the Barossa Valley. The wine region lies about 55 kilometers northeast of the city of Adelaide, the 5th largest city in Australia and the capital city of South Australia. With the wine region sitting astride the North Para River as well as a famous (in winemaking circles) tributary, Jacob’s Creek, the location allows for a wide range of mescoclimates, necessary for producing the many diverse and high quality wine grapes found in the broad cross section of premium wines produced there.
A trip to the Barossa Valley in South Australia is a requirement on the list for those wine enthusiasts who dream about visiting the world’s great grape growing regions. Over 70 Cellar Doors (Tasting Rooms) are available for sampling. Good planning is required if you want to visit your favorites over a few days or you could stay for a couple of weeks and try them all. Tours including in your selection of tasting rooms may be arranged which can provide for chauffeured 3 wheeler “trikes”, classic vintage vehicles or luxury motor coaches to move you around the valley. Helicopter and balloon rides are also popular among those that visit Barossa Valley.
