2-Day Custom Colca Canyon Trek from Arequipa

We are the only adventure compàny who start this this colca canyon experience at 7 am from arequipa. Go on tour with the only operator in Arequipa Peru, which does adventure trekking tours leaving Arequipa at 7 am. As the 2-day trekking experience is in a small group  with a maximum of 5 people the tour will be very flexible. It allows you to determine the speed during the hike or you can take some great pictures wherever you want. The service is also a superior one, as it is a customised tour and not in a big backpackergroup. For those with less hiking experience, you could take another route to descend into the canyon. The hike is a bit steeper, but it is a shorter route. You may hike directly to the oasis where you can spend the afternoon relaxing at the swimming pool.

Option 1: For those with more hiking experience

Day 1:

The guide will collect you at 6:00am an a private van to Pampa San Miguel, where you will begin your descent into the canyon. After an approximate 4-hour of trek, you will arrive to the first community, San Juan de Chuccho, where you will see the Colca River, take a rest and have lunch. Along the way the guide will explain life in these communities and about the flora and fauna around you. After, continue walking for 1.5-hours until you arrive at an oasis named Sangalle. Spend the night here in the oasis lodge, giving you the chance to relax and enjoy the beautiful surrounding.

Day 2:

After waking up very early in the morning, will begin your ascent at approximately 4:00am toward the town of Cabanconde. This will take approximately 3-hours, depending on the speed of the group. Arrive around 7:00am and have breakfast. Take a van over to la Cruz Del Condor, where you will stay for around an hour, giving you a chance to see the condors and have an excellent view of the canyon. Following the Cruz Del Condor, head to Chivay, the capital of the province and then onto the hot 35 ºC (95F) waters of la Calera, very recommendable after a long trek. After a delicious buffet lunch of typical Peruvian food in Chivay, you will travel back to Arequipa.

Option 2: For those with less hiking experience

Go straight to Cabanaconde and hike the steeper but shorter route directly down to the oasis. Spend the night here before following the same schedule for day two.

As private transport is used, it can be very flexible. If there is anything that you want to stop and see or photograph along the journey, just let your guide and driver know.

Option 3: Go back to Puno

If you want to go to Puno instead to Arequipa, no worries, you can take a tourist bus, departing at 1:00pm from Chivay and arriving at 8:00pm in Puno.
