Everyone knows that Georgia for summer hiking is paradise, but what about winter? Can you hike in winter in Georgia and actually enjoy hiking in this country? Well, winter can be also an amazing season for hiking lovers.

Fresh snow, colder temperatures, nice cottages in a national park can make winter hiking as amazing as summer hiking. So, for those of us who cannot wait for summer hiking, you can join us for a 2-day Snow Shoes Hiking Trail in Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park. This hike is done with snowshoes in the winter season, however, even in summer the hiking trail is so enjoyable and relaxing that many people take this hike in the hot days of summer.

Day 1: Tbilisi-Borjomi-Likani – Chitakhevi Ranger Station

Walking Distance 8 km, Duration 7 hours

Borjomi mineral park – is a place where first mineral water was bottled in Georgia. Borjomi mineral parks include different attractions, hot spring pools, and mineral waters. Here you can drink mineral water from the spring or bottled it yourself.

The trail starts at Likani ranger station. The first-day trail is 8 km long. First, we will walk into Likani gorge, and after a couple of hours, we start ascending to the mountains. Soon we will reach Chitakhevi ranger station. The shelter gives the possibility to make a fire and we will have enough of a water supply for the overnight.

Day 2: Chitakhevi Ranger Station – Likani-Tbilisi

Walking Distance 8km, Duration 6 hours

In the morning, we will wake up and start exploring Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park which is located in the central part of Georgia and creates an eastern part of the Lesser Caucasus Mountains. The total area amounts to 85,083 ha, which is more than 1% of the territory of Georgia.

This day trail goes through panoramic views along coniferous forest and runs down the settlement of Likani. After we walk 8 km, we return to Borjomi town and travel back to Tbilisi.
