2-Day Tour of Angkor, Phnom Kulen and Beng Melea

On this two-day tour, you will discover the Angkor and Phnom Kulen complex to avoid the crowds and see the ancient capital on the sacred mountain with nature and waterfall. On this day, you can visit a thousand lingam (symbol of the god Shiva), sandstone Buddha and the remote Beng Melea temple with a local guide or an English-speaking driver.

Itinerary

Day 1: DAY 1: ANGKOR THOM, TAPHROM & ANGKOR WAT

Stop At: Angkor Thom, Angkor Wat, Siem Reap 17259 Cambodia
(Tour: 8:30 am - 5:30 pm)
In the morning: After breakfast, select our guide or driver who speaks English. Start your visit to the following temples: Angkor Thom: South Gate; Bayon located in the city center and characterized by its 54 towers and over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara; Baphoun newly opened after years of restoration; Elephant Territory; Taphrom known for the 'Tomb Raider' film one of the most beautiful temples in the area, almost intact since its discovery. Free time for lunch at a local restaurant (typical food).

Stop At: Angkor Wat, Sangkat Nokor Thum, Siem Reap Cambodia
In the afternoon: After lunch, continue your visit to the Angkor Wat temple (One of the Seven Wonders of the World) the famous - best preserved temple of all Angkor temples. It is considered the largest religious monument ever built, and one of the most important archaeological treasures in the world. Return to the hotel.

Watch the sunset at Angkor Wat (optional). If you want to see the sunset in this place, you have to wait until 5:30 pm to see the reflection of the temple with the sunlight in the moat. But it is time dependent too. If it's cloudy, you can't see it.

Day 2: DAY 2: PHNOM KULEN & BENG MELEA

Stop At: Phnom Kulen National Park, Cambodia
Tour: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm)
In the morning: After breakfast, departure to the ancient Khmer empire capital 'Phnom Kulen', located 60 km from Siem Reap, and considered by the Khmers to be the holiest mountain in Cambodia. The first stop, visiting the “River of a Thousand Lingas” is named after the many phallic symbols, “linga”, representative of Shiva in Hinduism, carved from the rocks on the riverbed. The second stop visits a Buddhist temple with a giant statue of the reclining Buddha. Before lunch, you can bathe in the waterfall. Free time for lunch at a local restaurant (typical food).
Duration: 5 hours

Stop At: Beng Mealea, 40 km east of Angkor Wat Cambodia
In the afternoon: After lunch, we descend from the mountain to visit the Beng Melea temple, one of the most spectacular and mysterious temples in the Angkor complex. It is completely covered by vegetation. Being better known is little visited. The solitude and magic of the place left to the visitors an unforgettable memory. Return to the hotel.
