This two day tour is perfect to browse the two most important medieval Saxon cities of Transylvania: Sighișoara and Sibiu with departure from Brasov and arrival at the same place. The beautiful citadels and fortified churchies from the route, some of them in the UNESCO heritage, like Viscri and Biertan fortified church can be visited, without being in a hurry. At Sibiu is enough time to admire the historical center on the night too.

Day 1: Brasov - Sighisoara - Sibiu

Stop At: Cetatea Rupea, Strada Cetatii, Rupea 505500 Romania
Peasant Citade of defance, recently renovated, appears like an imposing silhouette from the road.

Stop At: Viscri Fortified Church, Viscri 507039 Romania
Viscri Vilage is representative for Transylvania, being very well preserved and so the modern influences being unimportant. It is one of the Transylvanian vilages where prince Charles of Wales has a house. The village and its surroundings can be admired from the fortified church tower (UNESCO patrimony).

Sighisoara, the citadel-city (UNESCO patrimony) with buildings, walls and defend towers from the Medieval Age. We will visit the “upper town” with Clock Tower, the house where Vlad the Impaller was born, the Covered Stair, the Hill Church and the Evanghelic Cemetery.

Day 2: Sibiu - Brasov

Stop At: Sibiu Tourist Information Center, Strada Brukenthal Samuel 2, Sibiu 550178 Romania
It is the most important settlement of the Transylvanian Saxons. The main attractions are, besides the pedestrian and narrow streets, characteristic for the old medieval cities: The Big Square, with the Town hall and Brukental Museum, The Council Tower, on the top of which you can admire the whole view of the city, the Small Square, the Ursuline Nun’s Church, the Lies Bridge, the Evangelic Cathedral, the Orthodox Cathedral.

Stop At: Fagaras Fortress, Mihai Viteazul no. 1, Fagaras 505200 Romania
One of the greatest and well preserved citadels in Eastern Europe. Built between the 14th and 17th century, it had many destinations: princely residence, Citadel of the Throne, military garrison of the Austrian Army and after 1918, a Romanian army garrison, political prison (1950 – 1960) and today the museum of the County of Fagaras.

Stop At: Manastirea rupestra Sinca Veche, Strasse 104E, Sinca Veche 507206 Romania
Sinca Veche Orthodox Complex where there is an Orthodox Cave Church, dug in the ground by the Orthodox Christians. The historians say the temple is unique in the world. It was used as a refugee place by the Orthodox monks hunted and forced by Maria Theresa to convert to the Catholic faith.
