Prepare for a short day tour to Senegal. This time we take you to another city besides Dakar known as Theis. It is the second-largest city in Senegal famous for its tapestry making industry. You will as well transfer to st Louis, where you will learn of the history of Senegal. End the trip with a journey at Djoudj Park (if weather permits) or a cruise on “Langue de Barbarie.”

Itinerary

Day 1: Dakar- Thies- Saint Louis

Stop At: Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary, North of St. Louis, Saint-Louis Senegal
Early morning, leave Dakar for St Louis with a stop at Thies, well known for its Tapestry making industry. In other term, it is the second-largest city in Senegal. It looks quite small and quieter than the ever-bustling Dakar. Visit the artisanal village, home to local artists displaying wares including clothing, textiles, drums, jewelry, sculpture and painting.
Continue to St Louis and check to hotel. Later on, visit Senegal’s colonial capital also titled Senegal’s cultural center and home to the annual Saint Louis international Jazz Festival. Visit the city on a horse-drawn carriage and explore the narrow streets flanked by houses with carved wooden balconies and veranda learning about Senegal history. Stop by the vibrant fishing village of Guer Ndar before returning to your hotel.

Day 2: Saint Louis – Djoudj Park or “Langue de Barbarie – Dakar

Stop At: National Park of the Langue de Barbarie, Saint-Louis Senegal
Spend the day with a visit to the Djoudj National Bird Park. It was one of the most important bird sanctuaries in the world. Located at the significant Palearctic migratory route and is a paradise for bird enthousiasts, world’s highest concentration of white flamingos, various songbirds and more. You will also see crocodiles, boas, boars, and other wildlife.
During the month of June to October, the Djoudj Park is always closed due to unbearable reasons. However, if you travel at that time, the Park experience will be replaced by a cruise on “Langue de Barbarie. It is a narrow peninsula separating the Atlantic Ocean and Senegal River where you can watch river birds and several species of turtles including the endangered Hawksbill sea turtle. At noon return to Dakar. End of our services.
