3-Day Waitomo, Rotorua & Hobbiton Tour from Auckland

An independent three day tour departing Auckland daily with two nights 4 star accommodation in Rotorua prior to your tour concluding back in Auckland. This tour includes admission and tours in Rotorua including the Agrodome and Te Puia Geothermal Valley. On day one, the tour travels to Rotorua via Waitomo where you will experience a guided boat tour through the glowworm caves. On day three, the tour travels back to Auckland via Hobbiton where you will have a guided tour of the The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings movie set.

Itinerary

Day 1: Auckland – Waitomo Caves – Rotorua

Stop At: Waitomo Glowworm Caves, 39 Waitomo Village Road, Waitomo Caves 3943 New Zealand
Depart Auckland for the Waitomo Glowworm Caves where you can view the cave formations, stalactites and stalagmites by boat through a cavern lit up by thousands of tiny glowworms. Following your tour of the caves, continue on to Rotorua for an afternoon arrival.

Stop At: Agrodome, 141 Western Rd, Ngongotaha, Rotorua 3010 New Zealand
Arrive at the at the Agrodome to feed the sheep and watch a sheep shearing demonstration and a sheep dog trial.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Te Puia, Hemo Road, Rotorua New Zealand
Next enjoy a Maori Cultural Performance including the Poi and Haka inside the Te Puia Marae. Finally tour the Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve and the thermal valley surrounded by boiling mud pools and see the famous Pohutu Geyser.

Day 2: Rotorua - Free Day

Day at Leisure to explore the Rotorua township or take in some of the other attractions, such as Rainbow Springs or Skyline Gondola.

Day 3: Rotorua – Hobbiton – Auckland

Stop At: Hobbiton Movie Set, 501 Buckland Road Matamata, Hinuera 3472 New Zealand
Enjoy a morning at leisure, with an early afternoon departure for Hobbiton: a farm that has been transformed for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movie set. See fairytale landscapes of the Shire on your Hobbiton movie set tour. See 44 hobbit holes, the Mill and double arch bridge, the party tree, and visit the Green Dragon Inn. Take a photo at the door of Bilbo’s house. On departing Hobbiton, your coach continues to Auckland where you will be transferred to your central city accommodation. At which time your tour concludes.
