This 3 days Rwanda gorillas and golden monkeys tracking tour offers the mountain gorilla trek as the prime adventure on this 3 day trip to the Volcanoes National Park – home to a third of the 900 mountains gorillas left in the world. Volcanoes National Park is Rwanda’s part of the Virunga Mountains which is a chain of beautiful volcanoes that cut across the borders with DR Congo and Uganda. The Virunga Mountains are also home to the golden monkeys, an endangered species of monkeys that is only found in the Virungas. They are incredibly beautiful, very active and you shall find tracking a group of about 100 members a worthwhile adventure.

Itinerary

Pass By: Kigali Convention Centre, KG 2 Roundabout, Kigali Rwanda

Day 1 – transfer to volcanoes national park, afternoon canoe tour
The guide shall pick you from your hotel in Kigali at 8am and travel to Musanze in the north of Rwanda. The drive is roughly 2 hours.

At 2pm you shall go for a half day (3 – 4 hours) canoe ride on River Mukungwa that offers a lovely tour of the beautiful countryside.
Enjoy breathtaking views of the rolling landscape, meet the locals and watch several wildlife including birds canoe ride on River Mukungwa in Musanze

Stop At: Volcanoes National Park, Musanze Kinigi, Ruhengeri Rwanda

Day 2 – gorilla tracking
Today you shall go for the gorilla adventure in Volcanoes National Park.
You shall transfer to the visitor’s center in Kinigi at 7.0am for briefing by the park guides about the park rules and gorilla tracking etiquette, and then transfer to the park for the gorilla trek.
It takes on averages takes 3 hours of trekking to find the gorillas, but can take much less or more depending on the movement of the gorillas.
You shall enjoy amazing views of the sprawling Virunga mountains and the rolling hills, observe a range of rare plant life including learning about the various plants the gorillas depend on for food, medication etc…
A maximum of 1 hour is allowed to be spent with the gorillas.

Day 3 – golden monkeys tracking and transfer back to Kigali
Today you shall go back into the Virungas for yet another amazing experience – the golden monkey tracking adventure.
The golden monkeys are unique to Virunga Mountains and live in the bamboo forests in the lower zones of the mountains.
This is will be a light trek and may find the monkeys after less than an hour of trekking.
They are incredibly attractive monkeys and offer great photography.
A maximum of 1 hour is allowed to see them

You will return from the golden monkey’s adventure, have lunch and depart to Kigali
