Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Puno

Stop At: Puno, Puno, Puno Region
Begin your trip by boarding the bus that will take you from Cusco to Puno, touring the fascinating landscape of the Andes. Hop in and start the beautiful journey to Puno, passing through the mesmerising scenery of the Andes. Get ready to have three memorable stops. The first one is at Andahuaylillas, a charming town located 40 kilometres from Cusco. The main attraction here is the breathtaking church of Andahuaylillas, also known as ‘Sistine Chapel of America’, thanks to its gilded baroque interior and delicate frescoes. Admire this beautiful landmark built in the 16th century and catch a glimpse at the recently restored original pipe organ hosted inside before continuing your journey to Racchi. Here, applaud the imposing Temple of Wiracocha, an interesting rectangular building, similar to a wall with windows and doors, measuring 30 meters wide by 20 meters high. Afterwards, continue your adventure and enjoy a delectable lunch break in Sicuani, followed by a short stop at La Raya, the highest point of the journey between Puno and Cusco, 4,313 metres above sea level. Next, visit the charming town of Pucara, the first urban settlement in the lake itself, developed between 100 and 300 AD. Check out the interesting Pucara Lithic Museum, before driving to the city of Puno and reaching your hotel.
Duration: 10 hours

Meals included:
• Lunch: In Sicuani.
Accommodation included: Overnight in Puno.

Day 2: Puno: Lake Titicaca - Uros and Taquile Islands

Stop At: Lake Titicaca, Puno 21000 Peru
After breakfast at the hotel, travel to the port of Puno where a boat will be waiting to take you to the beautiful Uros Islands. The Uros are an indigenous people of Peru that live on a series of human-made islands, created entirely from the buoyant totora reeds that grow abundantly in the shallows of the lake. The islands are composed of layers of woven totora, which are regularly replenished from the top as they rot from the bottom. The Uros people also use reeds to construct their homes, so cooking is done outdoors to avoid possible fires! After visiting this fascinating island, sail to Taquile, a small slice of heaven that once belonged to the Inca Empire. Look around and notice traces of its Incan past in the ruins that still exist around the island. After a brief introduction, the local community will give you an insight into their customs and traditions with a cultural demonstration. Lunch is enjoyed on the island before the return trip to Puno.
Duration: 9 hours

• Breakfast: At the hotel.
• Lunch: In Taquile.
