4-Day Abune Yosef Conservation Area Trekking Tour from Lalibela

Hike with us from one highlander village to the other on the massif of Abune Yosef conservation area, experience the way life of the highlander farmers, take part on their daily activity, enjoy the magical mountain view, observe the wild life the massif has to offer, like: the endemic and rarest Simien Wolf, Gelada Baboon, mountain Leopard, many types of birds ...

DAY ONE:

Your guide and porter will pick you up from your hotel at 7am.

After few minutes walk you are already on the highlands of Lalibela. After 3hrs hike you will reach MERABARBU plateau. Lunch will be served there and you also will have a long break to enjoy the spectacular valley and mountain views.

The trek continues to the 2nd big escapement called AD MEHANE ALEM, after having a long break there you will continue to walk to Ad Medhane Alem Village, overnight in the village.

DAY TWO:

Break fast will be served in the family Hut, then  hike to WEDEBIYE ABO VILLAGE.

You will have lunch and long break at Abune Yosef Eco Lodge, then hike to the Twin Zigits and to a very heighst peak called RIM GEDEL (4284mtr).

Overnight at Abune Yosef Eco Lodge.

DAY THREE:

After breakfast at Abune Yosef Eco Lodge, start hiking from the lodge to the famous Cave church of YEMREHANE KRISTOS.

After reaching in Yimreha Village around 1pm and long break, you will go explore Yimrehane Kristos cave church, built 85 years before the 11 rock cut churches in Lalibela town.

Overnight in the village.

DAY FOUR:

After break fast in the village hike to Lalibela town. On this hike you will cross the plateau called DAGOSACH big valley of MEDAGE.

Around 4pm you will reach Lalibela Town

If its your choice you also can drive 4WD from Yimrehane Kristos to Lalibela town.
