4 Days Southern Ethiopia Cultural Tour

This is a 4 days tour to Southern Ethiopia cultural routes. On this tour you will see different Ethiopian tribes and their cultures including the Oromo, the Gurage, the Wolayta, the Halaba and the Dorze. In addition you will also visit Lake Awassa and lake chamo, the giant Nile crocodile and hippos and other aquatic life of these lakes.

Itinerary

Day 1: ADDIS ABABA – ARBA MINCH

Stop At: Adadi Maryam, Addis Ababa Ethiopia
Morning (7am) pickup from your hotel, airport or any of your location in Addis Ababa and drive to Arba minch. On the way visit the 12th century Adadi Maryam rock hewn. Adadi Maryam is located on just 60 kilometers southwest of Addis Ababa. The church is one of the works of king Lalibela of Lasta. See Lalibela rock hewn churches for more information.

Tiya stele Ethiopia's world heritagesite and the 12th century Adadi Maryam rock hewn church. Overnight Ezana hotel or similar in Arba minch.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Tiya World Heritage Site, Tiya Ethiopia
Continue driving towards Arbaminch. Again on the way, visit the 900 years old stele field and one of Ethiopia's world heritage site. Tiya is a wonderful site for historians and archaeologists which describes the ancient form of burial system.

Day 2: EXCURSION to LAKE CHAMO and DORZE VILLAGE

Stop At: Chamo Lake, Arba Minch Ethiopia
Morning after breakfast make boat trip on Lake Chamo to see the largest Nile crocodiles which measure up to 7 mts. Also enjoy hippos and other aquatic life of the Lake.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Dorze Village, Arba Minch Ethiopia
In the fternoon drive to Chencha to visit Dorze tribes known for their unique housing style and traditional weaving skills. Then drive back to Arba minch for overnight stay.

Day 3: ARBA MINCH – AWASSA

Stop At: Alaba Kulito, Ethiopia
Morning after breakfast drive to Awassa. On the way visit different colourful cultures markets and people's such as Alaba and Wolayta. Finally proceed to Awassa, the most beautiful Ethiopian town located in the heart of the Great Rift Valley.

Day 4: AWASSA – ADDIS ABABA

Stop At: Fish Market at Awassa Lake, Awassa Lake, Awasa Ethiopia
Morning after breakfast, visit the traditional fish market at Lake Awassa.

In the evening farewell dinner at cultural restaurant where you enjoy Ethiopias traditional music and dance live from stage with delicious food and traditional drinks. Afterwards transfer to airport for departure according to your flight schedule. End of the tour.
