Stop At: Serra da Tronqueira, Nordeste, Sao Miguel Portugal

The Tronqueira mountain range is located on the eastern side, and contains dirt roads that cross the center-east from Nordeste to the municipality of Povoação (near the entrance to Faial da Terra). The viewpoint of Tronqueira offers an imposing view over Pico da Vara, the highest peak on the island with 1103 meters, and also over Pico Verde with 931 meters.

This viewpoint is in the heart of the Azorean Bullfinch habitat, and around it, we can find the most important patch of Laurel Forest on the island. At certain times of the year, this endemic bird can even be seen there.

Stop At: Parque Natural da Ribeira dos Caldeiroes, Estrada Regional Achada, 011, Sao Miguel 9630-024 Portugal

The Ribeira dos Caldeirões Natural Park is an Azorean protected area, located along the Ribeira dos Caldeirões watercourse, in the civil parish of Achada, municipality of Nordeste. This natural park is located on the slopes of Serra da Tronqueira and occupies part of the course of Ribeira do Guilherme.

Stop At: Miradouro da Ponta do Sossego, En1-1a, Nordeste, Sao Miguel 9681 Portugal

The viewpoint of Ponta do Sossego is located in Lomba da Pedreira, a little further from Ponta da Madrugada, offers a superb view of the coast, but here the gardens are the paradise. The diversity of flowers and, which are always well maintained throughout the year, make this place the largest garden in the municipality of the Nordeste.
The view over the sea is absolutely magnificent, and from where you can see Fajã do Araújo and Praia do Lombo Gordo.
At Ponta do Sossego's viewpoint it is a tradition for families to gather together for a weekend picnic outdoors.

Stop At: Miradouro do Salto do Cavalo, Pico do Salto do Cavalo, Povoacao, Sao Miguel Portugal

The Salto do Cavalo viewpoint closes the itinerary of northeastern viewpoints. In the parish of Salga, even at the extreme of the county, Salto do Cavalo you get a sumptuous view over the Furnas Valley, as well as the north and south coast of the island.
