6 Day Uganda Gorilla Safari and Lake Bunyonyi Homestay Experience

The 6-day gorilla trek and cultural excursion offered by Bamboo Ecotours takes you to Bwindi National Park to encounter the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat and experience local cultures in southwestern Uganda.

Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Stop At: Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Kisoro Uganda
Our representative will pick you up at Kigali and drive to Mgahinga National Park in Uganda. Arriving at Mgahinga national park early afternoon will give you an opportunity to do optional activities such as the Batwa community visit.
Duration: 4 hours

Day 2: Sabyinyo volcano hike at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Stop At: Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Kisoro Uganda
You will spend the day hiking Mt. Sabyinyo, also locally known as the "old man's teeth. The 3,645 meters standing volcano, will take you 5-9 hours round trip to summit the volcano.
Duration: 9 hours

Day 3: Community Activities around Bwindi and Mgahinga Gorilla Parks

Stop At: Kisoro, Kisoro, Western Region
Activities for the day include Batwa community experience, coffee making tour, canoeing at Lake Mutanda or Golden monkey trekking at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Day 4: Gorilla trekking at Bwindi National Park

Pass By: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Western Region
You will head to the Bwindi national park gate immediately after breakfast to get a briefing about the gorilla trek. The briefing will be conducted by the national park guide and will cover the basics on what to expect during the trek. It is at this point that you will be told which gorilla family to trek. It is likely that you will be joined by other visitors. The gorilla trek can take from a few to many hours depending on how far the gorillas are inside the forest.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for canoeing and more

Stop At: Kabale, Kabale, Western Region
In the morning we will drive from Rushaga/Bwindi to Lake Bunyonyi. Activities. include Swimming, Canoeing, Bird watching, visiting traditional healers, hike through the villages and hills, island hop, Arcadia Lodge – for panoramic views + drink, etc.

Day 6: Transfer to Kigali or Entebbe/Kampala

Stop At: Kampala, Kampala, Central Region
This will be the last day of the 6 day gorilla trek and cultural tour. You can choose to be dropped off in Kigali or Kampala/Entebbe. Or travel to Jinja, the Source of River Nile for an extend trip
