Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha/ Moshi to Machame Get to Machame hut

Stop At: Mount Kilimanjaro, Kilimanjaro National Park 40000 Tanzania
We depart Arusha to Kilimanjaro National Park, complete all the required formalities before we begin our trekthrough the beautiful thick forest that clothes the lower reaches of Kilimanjaro.
Hiking for 5 to 6 hours you will spot wildlife such as the blue colobus monkey and variety of bird species along the way.

Machame Camp (3,000 meters), is where you will end your day. Your porters and cook will be waiting for you, for a hot bath and meals to reenergize you for the next day.

Day 2: Day 2:Machame Camp to Shira Camp

Stop At: Mount Kilimanjaro, Kilimanjaro National Park 40000 Tanzania
Emerge from the giant heather zone and hike through fine open moorland to camp by the Shira Cave at 3,840m. Herds of eland up here (& occasional lion!) and there are fascinating geological features in the old volcanic caldera which can be viewed during a half-hour optional walk in the afternoon. Ascent 840m and 4 to 5 hours walking.
Today you will be up bright and early, though it’s a shorter day of climbing. The rainy forest gives way to open moorlands on this day, thereby making a completely different climbing adventure.

Around midafternoon you will arrive at Shira Camp, providing you with enough time to chillax and absorb in the beautiful view of Kibo Glacier.

Day 3: :Shira Camp- lava tower-Barranco Camp.

Stop At: Mount Kilimanjaro, Kilimanjaro National Park 40000 Tanzania
From Shira, climb towards the main peak Kibo, with the western glaciers clearly visible across the rugged high-altitude desert of volcanic rocks and boulders. Skirting around its base and under the imposing western Breach, descend into the sheltered Barranco Valley for mid-way camp at 3,950m. 6 to 7 hours walking and only 110m total ascent but having climbed much higher and dropped back down assists acclimatization.
A 300 feet volcanic rock formation will be your first intimidating challenge for the day, you will begin this unique milestone immediately after your done with breakfast.

After your done with this challenging landmark you will slowly descend to Barranco camp 4,500 meters above sea level.

Considered by many as the most beautiful camp in Kilimanjaro, Barranco camp will be your base for the night.

Day 4: :Barranco – Barafu (ice) Camp

Stop At: Mount Kilimanjaro, Kilimanjaro National Park 40000 Tanzania
Up the steep Barranco wall with some sections of very easy scrambling and drop down again to the Karanga Valley where you take a break for lunch.

After lunch hike on to Barafu Hut 4600m, having hiked a total of 7 to 8 hours and ascended 650m. You have fantastic views across to Mawenzi peak from the camp after having completed a longer day of hiking which now requires you to adequately relax in preparation of the challenging summit hike early the following morning.
Today will be your 1st real taste of mountain climbing, as you challenge yourself to a bit of old-school rock climbing through Barranco wall.

After this fearless challenge you will carry on towards the great Karanga Valley, where you will rest and stop for Lunch.

Barafu Camp will be excited see you after a tasty meal and a 2 to 3-hour hike.

You will be served with a delicious and mountain like meal and plenty of water before turning in for the evening as you will be summiting tomorrow.

Day 5: Day 5:Barafu Camp – Uhuru peak – Mweka Camp

Stop At: Mount Kilimanjaro, Kilimanjaro National Park 40000 Tanzania
A bracing 1am start to climb the steep frozen scree. This is unavoidable on any route but we aim to go past Gillman’s Point to reach Stella Point on the crater rim for sunrise another 40 minutes and you are at the highest point on the continent (Kibo:5900m), usually in warm sunshine. Return on the Mweka descent route.

Ascent of 1,300m and about 7 hours trek to the summit; 2,600m descent and 6 to 7 hours trek to the Mweka campsite (3400m) above Mweka gate. This is a long hard day but you feel absolutely ecstatic when you have done it!

Day 6: Day 6:Mweka Camp – Arusha

Stop At: Mount Kilimanjaro, Kilimanjaro National Park 40000 Tanzania
From Mweka campsite it is a 4 to 5 hours descent through the forest to Mweka gate (depending on individual fitness) to collect certificates and meet the vehicle. Return to Arusha for the night.
