As you take off and fly over Skaftafell, you might see the unique Svartifoss waterfall falling from basalt cliffs. You will also fly over Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Iceland. As you fly over Grímsvötn eruption site, you might notice the crater blowing up steam in the middle of the lake on top of the glacier. On your way to Landmannalaugar, you will also fly around the area of Langisjór and Lakagígar volcanic craters. Flying through the fresh air of Iceland’s highlands, you will see the countless mountains and valleys located in Landmannalaugar area. On your way back to Skaftafell, the pilot will fly over Eldjá, a volcano and valley linked to the same eruption system as Katla volcano.
After landing back in Skaftafell, you can take some time to chat with your pilot about the route you flew and the sights you saw.
