Day 1: Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Lake Burera

Kigali is the capital city of Rwanda, roughly in the center of the country. It sprawls across numerous hills, ridges and valleys, and has a vibrant restaurant and nightlife scene. The Kigali Genocide Memorial documents the 1994 mass killings in Rwanda, associated with the country’s civil war. The city’s Caplaki Crafts Village has stalls selling traditional handicrafts, including woodcarvings and woven baskets.

The Kigali Genocide Memorial commemorates the 1994 Rwandan genocide. The remains of over 250,000 people are interred there. There is a visitor centre for students and those wishing to understand the events leading up to the genocide of 1994.

Richard Kandt Museum in Kigali city
Dedicated to Richard Kandt, in his former home on the Nyarugenge Hill in Kigali, the museum strives to represent the evolution of the ground, animals, and plants, and to explain the interdependency between living beings and their environment.

Day 2: Getting to Ile de Cyuza (Cyuza Island) in Lake Burera
Stop At: Lake Burera and Lake Ruhondo, Rwanda
Visit the island with friends for a night. The island is in Lake Burera, about 30 mins drive from Musanze town and takes another 20 minutes by boat to the island. Ile De Cyuza is a wonder place to relax, in a very peaceful and quiet environment. It is located just at the base of Mount Muhabura. The view of the mountain is really wonderful. There are quite a number of tents and you will be provided with nice and cozy tents. They are just close to the lake and you will enjoy the sounds of frogs at night and the birds in the morning. You will be taken care of by the caretaker who will go out of their way to make sure that whatever you ask,is fulfilled right on time. If you ask them to get you a chicken, you will get it. Also there are full of vegetables grown around the island and you can be allowed to pluck some of the greens and Pili pili for your salad.

Though you can spend time on the island relaxing, reading, and swimming, the island can also help arrange a boat ride and other activities in the area.
