Lovcen Tour - Cetinje and Njegos's Mausoleum

Cetinje is the old Kingdom of Montenegro. It was founded in the 15th century and became the center of Montenegrin life and its culture. Today it is a city museum with beautiful monuments, promenades and nature under the huge mountain Lovćen. Cetinje is the former capital of Montenegro. During King Nikola, numerous embassies of different countries were built in this city, giving the city a specific appearance. The most important monument of the town is Cetinje Monastery built in 1701 - dedicated to the birth of the Virgin.

Lovćen is the symbol of Montenegro and its freedom . The mountain is located at 1749 m above sea level, and in 1952, it was declared a national park. On one of the peaks of Lovćen, Jezerski vrh - 1675 m above sea level, there is a Mausoleum, dedicated to Petar II Petrović Njegoš bishop, ruler, thinker and poet, one of the most important figures of Montenegrin history. This place, this great man has chosen for his life for his eternal rest.

Arrival at Cetinje - sightseeing of the city. You will be able to see the Cetinje Monastery, the Ćipur church, the former Njegoš's residence - billiards, King Nikola's Museum, the Presidential Palace, the Royal Theater "Zeta house", the monument of Ivan Crnojević, the Zeta ruler and the founder of Cetinje (duration 1h).

Driving towards National Park Lovćen - 45 min

Stop At: Njegos Mausoleum, Mount Lovcen, Cetinje 81250 Montenegro

Visit Njegoš's mausoleum (461 steps to the top). Stairs to Njegoš's mausoleum lead through the tunnel pierced through the mountain, and after a few minutes of walking, you arrive at the "sky under the clouds", to the Jezerski vrh, from where all around you is provided as in the palm - 1 hour.
