The majestic city of Chichen Itza was founded in 525 A.D. and since then, its development went through different constructive stages, product of the influence of the various peoples that occupied it throughout its existence. Although its architecture presents local variations, its nature and style are unique. In its constructions fine features are observed, figures delicately sculpted and profusely decorated in bright colors.
Towards the end of the late classic period, between 600 and 900 A.D., Chichen Itza became one of the main political centers of the Mayab region, consolidating itself as the most important center of power in the Yucatan Peninsula. The Mayas forged a broad domain with a unified culture whose center was Chichen Itza, however, around 1250 AD, the city was abandoned for reasons still unknown.
In 1988, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recognized the archeological site of Chichen Itza as a World Heritage Site, and nine years later, in 2007, it He was recognized by millions of people around the world, as one of the Seven New Wonders of the World
