Riomaggiore is the first of the Cinque Terre and is considered the Head Quarters of the National Park of Cinque Terre. It is known for its historic character, produced in the town's vineyards. Riomaggiore is not a fishermen village, as you may think, but a farmers village. In fact its typical dishes are a savory rice cake and ravioli.

Manarola is the oldest of the Cinque Terre towns. It is characterized by bright colored houses, often celebrated in paintings. Here village fairs are very important, especially August 10th the Saint Lawrence celebration, where you can admire the shooting stars on the sea surrounded by the beauties of Manarola.
