Cittadella’s town walls are a rare example of a medieval defensive system involving a still usable, perfectly preserved Parapet Walkway, one of the most beautiful in Europe.

After twenty years of work, visitors can now walk the entire length of the walls since the 8th of June 2013.

If you will buy the entrance tickes directly at the ticket office by cash, you will find more discounts for children, families, students, seniors and groups.

The Parapet Walkway is 15 meters above Cittadella’s walls on the historic defensive walkway whose purpose was to defend the town from above in the event of enemy attack. Recent renovation work has made the historic Walkway safe for the public and it is an excellent opportunity to explore the town from a new and attractive historic perspective, a unique walk through history. The visitors’ route is almost two kilometers long and many of the medieval museums and re-enactment rooms in the Captain’s house can be visited en route. Inside the Torre di Malta, moreover, you can visit the almost thirty meter high Belvedere, the Siege Museum and the Civic Archaeological Museum. The view ranges over the countryside around the town including the Euganean Hills, the Berici mountains, the Alpine foothills with the walled towns of Marostica and Asolo and Mt. Grappa.
