A guide will take you from your hotel in in Assiut or train station to start your Coptic tour by visiting The Hanging Monastery, The Monastery of Saint mina
The Monastery of Saint Mina the Wonderful, one of the most important Christian monasteries, and Egyptian Coptic monuments
The monastery dates back to the 4th century AD
It is common that the martyr Mina came to this cave and stayed there for a period of time, in a period of unification in the wilderness
The monastery is known for its “hanging monastery”, as it hangs in the lap of the mountain while inside a cave under a large rock in the middle of the mountain
On the third floor there is an exhibition of antiquities belonging to the monastery, including archaeological icons, wooden doors and church tools
