Wae Rebo is the only village in the entire district which still hosts the complete village structure including the traditional houses (mbaru niang house –a cone shaped house with massive roof made of layers of palm leaves and wooden structure), a drum house as symbol of the unity of the clan and communal building as well as the stone altar compang, where the souls of the ancestors are believed to stay.

At Cecer Village: Exciting cultural art perfomance such as the traditional bamboo pole jumping game ‘Tetek Alu’, the ‘Ndudu Dake’ dance, communion dance and the well-known Caci performance. Caci Perfomance is more than just a traditional performance; it is a major element of Manggaraian cultural identity and an important part of ceremonial life.

Itinerary

Day 1: Labuan Bajo - Wae Rabo Village (1x Lunch, 1x Dinner)

Stop At: Labuan Bajo, Labuan Bajo, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara
Pick you up at your Hotel (07.30am) in Labuan Bajo then drive up to Dintor (about 3,5 hours). Arrive in Dintor direct transfer to a local Restaurant for having lunch. Afterward, continue to Denge. Arrive in Denge you will start to do trek (around 3,5 hours to Wae Rebo Village) up hill through the rain forest to reach Wae Lomba – a creek as the first stop after about a one hour trek from Denge. Here the atmosphere of being in the forest is real while sometimes the song of Asian Paradise Flycatcher could be heard. Proceed then to reach Post 2 at Pocoroko a vantage point for picturesque views toward Savu sea in the south. It is the last place for cellular phone connection services available. The next stop will be at Nampe Bakok – a place where you will have a complete view over the traditional village of Waerebo. Spend your whole afternoon in the village to comprehend the local’s way of life and its surrounding.

Day 2: Wae Rebo Village - Labuan Bajo (1x Breakfast, 1x Lunch)

Stop At: Wae Rebo Village, West Manggarai Highlands Satar Lenda, West Satar Mese, Flores 86511 Indonesia
At 07.00AM Breakfast at a Local house in Wae Rebo. After breakfast then trek the same way back but this time you walk downhill until reaching a point where the car is waiting to bring you back to Labuanbajo. Lunch at a local Restaurant in Lembor. Afterwards drive back to Labuan Bajo.

Melo Village or Cecer Village is an excellent choice for the travelers in search of a distinct Manggaraian cultural experience. The cultural cooperative of Riang Tana Tiwa will be eager to receive you with a warm traditional welcome ceremony. Cecer Village offers a range of village-based tourism activities, exciting cultural art perfomance such as the traditional bamboo pole jumping game ‘Tetek Alu’, the ‘Ndudu Dake’ dance, communion dance and the well-known Caci perfomance. Caci Perfomance is more than just a traditional performance; it is a major element of Manggaraian cultural identity and an important part of ceremonial life. Being a unique aesthetic delight for spectators, Caci performances are an attraction to overseas as well as domestic visitors to Manggarai. In Kampung Cecer (kampung means ‘village’ in Indonesian), visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a Caci performance organized by Riang Tana Tiwa’ cooperative. You are invited to a traditional ceremony where guests are served sopi, the local palm wine, before joining the Caci performance. The wine cups are made out of coconut shells – one of the many vigilant details that gives the visitor an idea of traditional Manggaraian daily life.

Afterward, drive back to Labuan Bajo.
