Capo di Leuca, located at the end of Puglia region, is an area of Salento made of numerous small and fascinating villages.

With this bike tour you will cycle along secondary streets that link these villages, and discover some hidden treasures, like the defence tower of Salignano, the funeral monument Centopietre in Patù, the medieval hamlet of Giuliano and the Sanctuary of Leuca Piccola in Barbarano. This is an easy ride (approx. 15km), suitable for all skills level.

First stop is the small village of Salignano, where you will visit its impressive defense tower. The tower, built in the XVI century for defense against pirates and Saracens, was big enough to offer repair to the whole viilage's population during attacks.

Continue cycling through Castrignano and move on to Patù, where you'll discover the 'Centopietre' monument, an enigmatic ruin built with a funerary function, then used as a religious chapel (there are traces of Byzantine frescoes) and, in recent times, even as a sheepfold.

At last reach Barbarano and visit the Shrine of Small Leuca and its cave, an ancient pilgrimage destination and shelter for pilgrims going to Leuca. On the way back you'll also visit the castle of Giuliano.
