Cycling inner Mekong BenTre TraVinh NgaNam floating market 3days

This is an Inner mekong adventure cycling trip. Taking you through BenTre coconut palm to TraVinh and SocTrang, the most popular Khmer community of Mekong delta. Then we explore the old time famous NgaNam floating market. It’s a real floating market that far away from big group beaten track. It is nice to be in a quiet place, go to bed early and wake up before the sun rise to enjoy the scenery of NgaNam floating market.

Itinerary

Day 1: Day 1: SaiGon – MyTho- BenTre – TraVinh (B,L)

Stop At: Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral, 01 Cong xa Paris Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City 700000 Vietnam
We transfer in the morning to mekong delta and we cross Rach Mieu suspension bridge over the main Mekong river to BenTre, a special province of coconut palm with lots of small winding canals lined with mangroves. We start riding on small country roads, feeling lost under the green coconut canopy. Our van pick us up for a short crossing HamLuong bridge to MoCay, a special district of coconut palm with lots of small winding canals lined with mangroves.

We continue cycling on village road, local ferry crossing at VamNuocTrong, on to DinhThuy, a war memorial of DongKhoi rebellion in 1960, 4k click to MoCay. Lunch break at a local restaurant serving ComTam – a broken rice with ribs. Then we bike a long Mocay canals, see local industry making fiber from coconut shells. We pass Cho Thom market and on a local road under coconut palm garden to NgaiDang and Camson. This special cement route 17k through local village from Mocay to Camson is our highlight of this day. Then we cross CamSon ferry to LongDuc, and have 7 click more to TraVinh.

Day 2: Day 2 : TraVinh – SocTrang – NgaNam (B,L,D)

Stop At: Ang Pagoda, National Road 53 Group 4, Ward 8, Tra Vinh 90000 Vietnam
TraVinh is the homeland of Khmer people, there are more than 250 Khmer pagodas in the province and over 300,000 Khmer people. The most populated Khmer minority in the mekong delta provinces. So we will spend this morning time to discover beautiful Theravada pagodas like OngMet pagoda, historical Ba Om pond and Ang pagoda.

Then we mount on our bikes, cycling on country roads to GiongTranh, and keep on small path along rice paddies to TieuCan. Then, we continue riding to CauQuan. From here, we have two ferry crossing the mighty mekong – CoChien branch to Dai Ngai. From DaiNgai, we keep on 23k on countryside road through Khmer villages, orchards and rice paddies to SocTrang. Lunch break in town.

In the afternoon, we have short transfer to Salon pagoda – a Theravada temple with special ceramic decoration on its wall. Then the adventure start, we follow local road 6k to through the rice paddies to a pagoda, then 12km zig zag along CaiTrau canal to TamSoc village, then we have a long stage 24km through immense rice field and mangrove forest to NgaNam. Overnight in Nga Nam. Total cycling around 54km.

Day 3: Day 3: Nga Nam floating market – CanTho – SaiGon (B,L)

Stop At: Cantho Market, 44 Phan Boi Chau Hai Ba Trung, on the river, at the end of Nguyen An Ninh., Can Tho Vietnam
Early boat trip to visit Nga Nam floating market, see the locals exchanges their products on wooden boats. Time to enjoy breakfast at the right corner of Nganam market. Enjoy coffee time while looking at the wooden sampan hanging around the QuanLo canal.

Then we get back to hotel, check out and we start cycling to LongMy, then zig zag in the rice paddies to RachGoi and to MotNgan town. Lunch break at local restaurant. Back to CanTho for your transit to PhuQuoc, or to ChauDoc for going to Cambodia. Or we then transfer back to SaiGon.

If time permitting, you may ride the last stage ~ 20k from MyPhong to TamVu of LongAn. We will pass through the green dragon fruit farms. Our guide will show you how farmer set up their dragon farms and taking care of this special cacti tree. End of tour in Saigon.
