Stop At: Mirepoix, France

Our first stop is Mirepoix, a beautiful medieval village dating from the 10th century. The large central square is flanked by a magnificent covered arcade, created by half timbered houses supported on wooden pillars.


Duration: 40 minutes

Stop At: Chateau de Montsegur, D9, 09300 Montsegur France

We then drive to the Château de Montségur, where the last stake of the Crusade against the Cathars occured in the 13th century. We then spend a relaxing lunch, enjoying the local cuisine.

Stop At: Chateau de Foix, Place du Palais de Justice, 09000, Foix France

From atop its impressive rock, the castle dominates the city of Foix, which is the capital of the department of Ariège. In centuries past it controlled acces to the high Ariège river valley and watched over the countryside, protected by unbreachable walls.
