According to the Samudra manthan, Haridwar along with Ujjain, Nashik and Prayagraj is one of four sites where drops of Amrit, the elixir of immortality, accidentally spilled over from the pitcher while being carried by the celestial bird Garuda. Rishikesh is a city in the Himalayan foothills beside the Ganges River just 20 km from Haridwar. The river is considered holy, and the city is renowned as a center for studying yoga and meditation. Temples and ashrams (centers for spiritual studies) line the eastern bank around Swarg Ashram.

Day 1: Delhi - Haridwar/ Rishikesh (220km/ 5hr approx)

Pass By: Rishikesh, Rishikesh, Dehradun District, Uttarakhand
Pick up from your hotel or airport in Delhi and drive to Haridwar/ Rishikesh, check in at hotel.

Stop At: Har ki Pauri, Upper Road, Haridwar 249401 India
Evening Ghats visit and Aarti at Hari Ki Pauri in Haridwar or at Triveni Ghat in Rishikes. Everyday ghat comes to life with singing prayers and lit up lamps along the Ganges where people in hundreds and thousands view this mesmerizing and cleansing ritual. Rest time free and easy to relax. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Haridwar/ Rishikesh

Stop At: Rishikesh Yogis Yogshala, Laxman Jhula Road Prithvipal Sadan, Rishikesh 249192 India
Early morning yoga class followed by breakfast at hotel. Full day sightseeing in Rishikesh visiting temples, ashrams and ghats.

Dayananda Ashram Rishikesh is situated on the banks of the Holy Ganga, away from the major tourist attractions. It is a unique centre for the study of Vedanta and Sanskrit; unique in the sense that the classes are conducted in English yet the adherence and reverence to the ancient tradition of teaching (Sampradaya) is total. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Siva as Gangadharesvara facing the Ganga.

Bharat Mandir is an ancient temple of Lord Hrishikesh Narayan located at heart of the Rishikesh city in Uttarakhand. This temple is believed to be very old and most sacred temple in the city. A great Hindu saint Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya reinstalled the idol of presiding deity on Basant Panchmi in the temple in 789 AD.

Geeta Bhawan is a major place for devotees from far away places as they get free stay during their holy dip in river Ganga with listening to discourses and meditation.

Lakshman Jhula is an iron suspension bridge over holy river Ganga in Rishikesh. A famous landmark place in Rishikesh, Lakshman Jhula has 450 feet length connecting Pauri district with Tehri district. Lakshman Jhula also offers a panoramic view of river Ganga and Rishikesh city having number of temples.

Triveni Ghat is a sacred ghat in Rishikesh famous place where pilgrims takes bath. Triveni words comes from join of two words Tri (three) and Veni (confluence) meaning confluence of three. Triveni Ghat is located at confluence of three religious rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. Aprat from holy bath, pilgrims takes holy dip in river Ganga and offered prayers.
