This day trip begins by crossing a fertile agricultural region: cultivation of cereals, legumes, oil production ... Arrival at the Zagota pass, the road engages in eucalyptus forests, plantations of olive and fig trees. We soon discover a vast plain where the ruins of Volubilis are found. After spending an hour admiring the ruins of this 1st century AD Roman city, the journey continues to the holy city of Moulay Idriss. To see: the panorama and the round and white minaret, decorated with verses from the Koran in green mosaics.
Upon arrival in Meknes, you have a magnificent view of the Medina. The visit begins with the tour of the ramparts with monumental doors dating from the 17th century: Bab Berdaïne, Bab Khémis. We continue the discovery of the city by the stables (Roua), the granaries (Héri), and the Stud farms. Essential stop at the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismaïl which was for a very long time the only mosque that non-Muslims could visit in Morocco. We then exit by the very famous Bab Mansour on the vast El Hédim square. On the other side of the square, the "Dar Jamaï" Museum of Moroccan Art offers a wide variety of handicrafts. You can stroll through the Medina before returning to Fez.
