Pass By: Mountain Sahara Treks, Maison Dar Mazik - Imlil, Maroc, imlil, Maroc 42152, Morocco
Imlil, which is 65km away from Marrakech, is one of the most important towns in the valley of Ait Mizane (this name corresponds to the Amazigh tribe living there). It is a mountainous area which you can easily reach by various means of transport. Travelers always acknowledge and enjoy the unique and gorgeous natural scenery of the place, and the hospitality and modesty of the people is apparent, not to mention the nice weather and delicious food. In their trekking to the Atlas mountains, mainly Toubkal (4167 meters above sea level), passengers who spend the night in Imlil find it very inviting and extremely quiet.
Pass By: Imlil, Imlil, Marrakech-Safi
This 6 hour, guided walk is ideal for those who want to experience the Atlas Mountains and the magnificent scenery and learn the way of the people in their local customs.
Starting from Imlil (1740m), the main starting point for treks into the High Atlas, it is a circular walk along mule tracks and through the typical Berber villages of Tinerhourhine, Ikiss and Amskere where we will have our picnic lunch. We will return to Imlil via Aguerssioual along the valley of Ait Mizane. The walk is not difficult but includes the crossing of two passes, Tametert (2279m) and Aguerssioual (2260m) from where there are spectacular views across the Toubkal region.
If you wish to spend the night in Imlil (a busy market town with shops and cafes and a major trekking center), we can arrange your accommodation. Alternatively you may wish to spend the night in the more traditional Aremd village, a little further up the valley towards Toubkal. Here there is also the option of visiting the Hamman village (steam bath) and walking along the lanes and alleys, before enjoying a traditional meal in your guest house.
