Stop At: Essaouira, Essaouira, Marrakech-Safi
Drive along the Atlantic coast
We start at 07:30 a.m. from your hotel and follow the embankment towards Essaouira.
For the approx. 173 km from Agadir to Essaouira we need approx. 3 hours.
The city of Essaouira or Mogador is one of the most fascinating places on the Atlantic coast.
During our trip we will always take breaks to take pictures of the wild Atlantic coast and to get to know the work in an Argan cooperative. On the side of the road we can see goats climbing trees to “harvest” the argan fruits (which are considered delicacies for the goats).
Once in Essaouira, we will visit the old town "Medina", which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is surrounded by medieval walls. The "Scala de la Kabasch" stands on the southern edge of the medina. The defense bastion with 19 bronze cannons is very well preserved and offers beautiful photo motifs. The whitewashed-blue houses give it an extraordinary look.
Stroll through the lively, narrow streets of the medina and let yourself be fascinated by the old French and Portuguese architecture. Visit the Jewish Quarter, art galleries, thuja woodworkers, or shops in the souk.
The traditional fishing port offers insights into the work of the fishermen. Boats are made of wood, nets are patched, fishing lines are baited by hand. You can have freshly caught fish prepared for lunch.
You will experience an interesting day in a coastal town that has long been under the influence of the Portuguese occupation.
Note: Please note that we are legally obliged to appoint a local tour guide for the city tour in Essaouira. If you want to discover the sights on your own, or if you want to have more free time in the city, there is of course the possibility. Just let us know.
