The Natadera Temple is the head temple of the Shingon Sector and was established in 717. Toshitsune Maeda, the 3rd lord of the Kaga Clan, built the incense burning pavilion, 3-story pagoda, the bell tower, the study room. Magnificent scenery of strangely formed rocks that are said to be the remains from ancient volcanic eruptions undersea is a must-see. Also famous for viewing beautiful autumn leaves.

Stop At: Daihonzan Eihei-ji Temple, 5-15 Shihi, Eiheiji-cho, Yoshida-gun 910-1228 Fukui Prefecture
Eiheiji is a large temple complex and active monastery standing on a cedar covered slope in the mountains just outside Fukui City founded in 1244. Eiheiji is one of two head temples of the Soto Sect of Zen Buddhism.
The temple complex consists of over 70 buildings and structures which are connected to each other by covered walkways that protect from the heavy snow seen in the region from December to March. Famous spot for autumn leaves.

Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum is one of the top thee museums of its kind in the world, and the largest in Japan, is dedicated to excavation, research, and most of all, education. The museum includes an excellent English audio guide.
