From here, we will start walking towards the nearby local fish market, in route covering various monuments like the Old secretariat area, the account department built by the Portuguese, the summer palace of Yusuf Adil Shah - one of Goa’s oldest surviving buildings built in the 1500s (check out its distinctive Indo-Portuguese architecture) and Abbe Faria statue. The fish market is a bustling scene bursting with fishnets and an array of fish. Next, we will head to the vegetable and spice market, and catch a whiff of the exotic spices and herbs. We then continue further to the flower market, all the while getting a sneak peek into the chaotic yet charming life of the locals.

Stop At: Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, Church Square, Panjim 403001 India

Now hop onto a tuk-tuk (local ride) and leave for Fontainhas area, a quaint little Goan/Portuguese food joint, to enjoy a mug of chilled beer or the Cashew Feni- Goan specialty liquor produced exclusively in the state. But, it is never a no for a photo-op, and we make a quick photography break at “Our Lady of Immaculate Conception” church, the most iconic church of Goa. The impeccable architecture of this church, that was built in the 1560s, is said to have been inspired by the Church of Bom Jesus de Braga in Portugal. After the drinks and chats, take a lazy stroll of the Fontainhas area, stepping back in time as you explore the Latin styled quarters of the city. The neighborhood’s Mediterranean appearance, narrow streets, overhanging balconies and the synchronized color and scheme is a feast for the eyes.
