4.7659574 from partner siteThe tour starts with a pickup in Reykjavik City Area at 08:30. After the pickup the circle starts with a short drive to Hveragerdi Village. The first stop on the route is Kerid Volcanic Crater, a red picturesque crater in a beautiful area. From there the mini bus takes you to Geysir Geothermal Area. The area is literally a hot spot of boiling mud pools and hot spring, and the erupting Strokkur gets the biggest crowds, a geyser that jets out a 65 feet column of boiling water every 5 to 10 minutes. Next on the schedule is an attraction only a few minutes drive away, the most visited and most famous waterfall in Iceland, Gullfoss Waterfall. Formed in the glacier river Hvítá and dropping 105 feet in two stages, Gullfoss is a powerful attraction in a beautiful environment. The canyon walls surrounding the waterfall are up to 230 feet high. It is up to your guide whether the lunch break is at Geysir or Gullfoss, but both locations have multiple options for food, drinks and snacks.
The last attraction on the schedule is Thingvellir National Park, an iconic and historic site, and the only UNESCO World Heritage site in Iceland. The main attraction is not the history but the terrific landscapes formed on the continental rift between the tectonic plates. You can walk through the area on save and comfortable walking paths. After the visit at Thingvellir it is time to go back to Reykjavik City, where your guide will drop you off at your accommodation or a location of your choosing in Reykjavik.
