You'll start the day by meeting your guide in the parking lot near the Seismic entrance to the Austin Greenbelt. Here you will get suited up with the proper climbing gear such as shoes, harnesses and helmets. Then you will hike a short, beautiful distance to the climbing area and sometimes, when the water is up, the group will cross a small creek.
Your guide will then kick off the learning part of the day. You'll learn the main safety concerns starting out in climbing, like learning to belay, tie a figure-eight knot and communicate with one another. Once your guide goes through a ground safety school it's your turn to give climbing a shot. Normally groups do 5-7 climbs for the rest of the day with any necessary guidance and support. Obviously your guides make sure the safety systems are working properly, but for the most part you'll be working together using the techniques taught to you.
