After pick-up from the meeting point at 9am (Departure is from the Pan Pa Ya in Chapinero (Calle 58 #6-22)), you will travel approximately an hour to the town of La Calera through the eastern mountains lining the city. There, you will meet with your local guide who will help you saddle up for the ride. The trail takes you up through the mountains and offers spectacular views of the San Rafael dam, sub-páramo forests and the rural farmlands. The trail ride typically takes 2 hours at a horse's walking speed; if you gallop, the riding time will be cut down significantly. The total tour time will run from 4-5 hours.
The tour price includes private transport and a horse rental with a local Spanish-speaking guide.
On this tour, please remember to bring:
• Sun protection like a hat or head cap
• Narrow boots or closed toed shoes (hiking boots are not ideal for riding horses)
• Long pants/jeans (no shorts allowed)
• Rainproof jacket and a warm sweater
• Money to buy local food
