Choose a morning or afternoon departure, then begin with pickup from your hotel in Interlaken. The first stop of the day is on the beach at Boenigen to photograph Lake Brienz, which stretches 9.3 miles (15 kilometers) through the heart of the mountains. At the beach and throughout this 4-hour tour, take advantage the flexibility to tailor the experience to your interests and needs, with plenty of personal attention from the guide.
Continue through Iseltwald fishing village to the top of Lake Brienz, where the Aare River pours into the pale blue water. It’s an easy, 5-minute hike to Giessbach Falls, a scenic waterfall rimmed evergreen trees and Alpine plants. Enjoy views down to Lake Brienz and the mountains, then keep walking to Grand Hotel Geissbach, an elegant, old-world Swiss landmark. You’ll have time to pause for a coffee or ice cream at the hotel (own expense), and see the historic funicular that links the hotel to Lake Brienz.
Drive back down to the lake shore towards Brienz village, with 30 minutes to see old fashioned chalets decorated with bright flower boxes, and browse shops full of hand-carved wooden figurines. After your time in Brienz, begin the return trip to Interlaken, following small roads along northern edge of Lake Brienz, and passing the villages of Oberried, Niederried, and Ringenberg. This tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel in Interlaken.
