Stop At: Tomb of Emperor Tang Gaozong (Qianling), Western Route, Xi'an China
Meet up your friendly private guide at your hotel lobby in the morning or afternoon based on your preferred schedule. Transferred by comfortable vehicle to Qianling Mausoleum, on the outskirts of Xi'an, and was established about 1,300 years ago.
Qianling is the joint tomb of Emperor Tang Gaozong and his wife Wu Zetian, near by is the tomb of their grad son. Wu Zetian was the most famous empress in Tang dynasty. She ruled China more than 20 years after her husband Tang Gaozong died. It looks like an open air museum. You walk through exquisite large stone statues, animals and humans, including ostrich that was Emperor Tang Gaozong favorite bird given by foreigner during that time. The headless men statues are near the gate and a pair of stone lions. They were emperor’s officers and visitors. Inside of the prince tomb, there are printed murals, clay pots, and Tang China. The prince died at age 19, unmarried. However, they are 2 bodies in the tomb. A daughter of emperor’s officer, married the prince after she died. Then, enjoy a tasty local lunch.
If you select the tour with dinner option, you will enjoy a Tang Dynasty Dance and Dumpling Dinner after your tour. While tasting the delicious dumplings, you will learn more about Wu Zetian through singing and dancing performances.
