If you opt for the morning tour you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the banks of the River Ganges for a boat ride that gives you another perspective of the several ghats, riverfront steps that lead to the river. Should you choose the afternoon tour instead, you will be able to watch the spectacular sight of the evening prayers, Ganga Aarti.
Your walking tour will start at one of the numerous ghats that line the banks of the River Ganges. Walk to Assi Ghat located at the confluence of the River Ganges and River Assi. Visit the Harishchandra Ghat where cremations are held. Most of the other ghats are bathing ghats.
After the tour of the ghats, make your way to the narrow lanes that are lined with shops selling offerings for the Gods and other items used for religious ceremonies. Visit the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple also known as the Golden Temple because of the gold plating on its tower and dome. The temple is dedicated to God Shiva.
Spend some time exploring the local bazaars and sample some tea or lassi (buttermilk, own expense) at one of the numerous shops along the way.
At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back at your hotel.
