Hiking the 10 Volcanos Trail in Faial Island

This trail covers many different volcanic landscape. It's an opportunity to learn about volcanology, biology and history of the Azores. Our guides are extremely professional and passionate about their home.

Itinerary

The 10 volcanos trail is a full day activity, and it’s the most complete hike in Faial. During the activity we get to see a lot of the island. The hike includes the 2 most famous points of interest in Faial: Caldeira, and Capelinhos volcano. In between we will learn about the Azores Native forest and its endemic species, since we’ll cross various types of landscape. We start near to the island’s highest point and finish at sea level. The geological interpretation of the island also marks the experience. The 10 volcanos trail travels west, along the Faial’s youngest volcanic system.
