Horseback Riding to La Fortuna Waterfall From Arenal

This is a project managed by a committee from the community which uses their resources  for social and infrastructure development in town.

Itinerary

A beautiful example of the Costa Rican country site will be found along the way, cattle farms and agriculture, also the chance to see some birds as oropendolas and tucans. After that you have to walk five hundred meters into the forest to get to the waterfall, which is 70 meters high.

At the base of the waterfall there is a “natural pool” where we can swim in the fresh water of La Fortuna river for about one hour.

When you’re ready to walk to the waterfall, the guide will lead you to a descending trail with about 600 steps of stairs as the canyon is quite steep. However a slow pace and a couple stops to catch some breath will take to the very base in nearly 20min.

There, you’ll be pleased with yourself for the effort as the view is stunning. A 229′ tall waterfall precipitates in a pool of emerald and refreshing waters. You’ll be more than welcome to take a swim here. There’s also a calm part of the river a few meters away ideal for kids.
