HORSEBACK RIDING IN THE LLANGANATES

In the morning or afternoon depending on your choice we will move to the magical National Park Llangantes, this corridor extends along the basin of the Pastaza River from Baños in a length of approximately 47 km, and a width that goes from 1 to 3 km ; It is characterized because it is possessor of a great variety of endemic flora and fauna of the zone, the same ones that have been object of great scientific studies by the WWF who in the year 2000 awarded to this runner with the prize A GIFT FOR THE EARTH, besides In this corridor we find several tourist attractions such as tarabitas waterfalls and ecological trails that have made this place privileged and visited by national and foreign tourists.

Stop At: La Cordillera de los Llanganates, Ambato 856, Baños de Agua Santa, Ecuador

The Llanganates or Llanganati which means "beautiful hill", as they were known by the ancient inhabitants of the Sierra, were used as sacred sites by the indigenous people of the Rumiñahui region, the inhabitants of Píllaro, and after the Inca occupation they became a center very important ceremonial or "huaca" (Uzcátegui 1992 cit. by Vásquez and Larrea 2000). The Incas used the Llanganates as a mining area, interned to extract gold from the mountains and created a road infrastructure whose traces can still be seen today (Anhalzer 1998 by Vásquez and Larrea 2000).

The archaeological evidence found in the area suggests that in the past the park was inhabited by the same human groups that inhabited most of the mountainous area during the Kingdom of Quito. The cacicazgos of Tacunga, Mulliambato and Píllaro exercised in their time influence on these groups, that were characterized by their active commerce to regional level.
