Get to know the elaboration process of our most famous cheese at an authentic Basque cheese farm and factory. We will have the opportunity to learn first-hand from the shepherd about the techniques of cheese-making, followed by a tasting of their Idiazabal Designation of Origin cheese.
Later, we will head to one of the more than 30 Basque Cider Houses spread throughout Astigarraga and Hernani, without a doubt the two towns with the greatest cider tradition in the entire Basque Country, to enjoy a typical cider house lunch. The typical Cider House menu consists of: Cod Omelet, Fried cod with green peppers, “Txuleta” – big rib eye steak, Idiazabal cheese with quince and walnuts, and self-serve cider. Any time or season is ideal to live a cider house gastronomic experience.
The tour includes a guided excursion through a Basque cheese farm and factory, Idiazabal Designation of Origin cheese tasting, a full traditional lunch at a Basque Cider Farmhouse, and private transportation to and from your accommodation.
