Matanuska Glacier Hike Day Tour

On this guided day tour you walk onto the unusual terrain of the Matanuska Glacier. You will see and learn about many glacial features such as seracs, moulons and crevasses. Don't forget your camera! This is an unparalleled, authentic activity. Tour price includes glacier access and guiding. Drive time is two hours each way. After the tour, our lunch stop (not included in tour price) is at a rustic Alaskan lodge where you can purchase a variety of soups, sandwiches and salads. 

After your hotel pickup we travel northeast of Anchorage along the Glenn Highway. Enjoy epic views of the Chugach and Talkeetna mountain ranges (and, on a clear day, the Alaska range), as well as the Matanuska River Valley as we drive approximately 2 hours to the Matanuska Glacier. Wildlife such as moose and bald eagles are also frequently spotted along the route.

At the glacier you will be outfitted with ice spikes and appropriate safety gear, then matched up with your expert glacier guide for a 2-hour hike out onto the ice and to the face of the glacier.

After your hike, we make a lunch stop at an authentic Alaskan lodge with a panoramic view of the glacier before heading back to Anchorage.
