Mexican Painting Class explores art from a Mexican perspective, where Meso American beauty and aesthetics will be investigated. Photos, live models of Indigenous & mestizaje descent, and Mexican props, will be examples for students to visually record on canvas. Student can also take their own pictures if they wish.

Maestra Isis Rodriguez is a mestizaje of Puerto Rican and Mexican descent. She has been a Master artist & teacher for over 20 years at Instituto Allende, Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco, where she uses different methods, ranging from Great Masters to modern art school, to help students meet their needs in drawing the portrait and figure.

Itinerary

Mexican Painting Classes will begin at 10am with a tour and orientation of the history of Mexican aesthetics and beauty. Students can choose Mexican Portrait, Still Life or Landscapes. Photographs, field trips and or models who reflects Indigenous and mestizaje cultural & historical evolution will be used in class.
Maestra Isis will give a demonstration on professional use of all materials, proportion, compositions, Mexican props, and lighting and shadowing. Students will then spend the rest of the time painting from the models, photographs and or Mexican props. Isis will trouble shoot according to each student's needs and issues that arrive during their time. Painting materials explored will be a variety of oils or watercolors which are included in the price. Equipment, materials, aprons, rags, are included. Students are encouraged to bring cameras, ipads or cell phones to take pictures.
Students will leave with a painted memory of San Miguel de Allende.
