From the Mayan temples to the Mayan underworld, visit two destinations in one day. This adventure starts at the popular Mayan site of Xunantunich; just getting there is an adventure of its own. After the tour around the temples of Xunantunich, we drive to No’och Che’en Cave, where you will start off on an easy hike through the jungle to your starting point. As you sit and enjoy the tubing downstream, you will be floating through a series of remarkable limestone caves, each filled with fascinating discoveries of the Mayan underworld. This adventure is relaxing and fun as you float down the Caves Branch River. There is also an opportunity to leave your tubes behind and go exploring into cave chambers, where you will see ceramic pieces and beautiful geological formation. The adventure ends floating down river through the jungles of Belize, where you first started hiking.

After hotel pickup in San Ignacio in the morning or afternoon, start your 2-hour tubing adventure at the village of San Jose Succotz. Just as the Mopan River was an important water source for the ancient city of Xunantunich, its easy access is important to this nearby village. A group of contemporary Mayans settled along the riverbank in the early 1800s, but today the village comprises a mixture of ethnicities.

Clip on your helmet and life jacket, then jump on a tube and follow your guide down the river. Relax as you coast down the easy-flowing river, floating past the village and into the jungle. Your guide will bring your attention to the flora and fauna of Belize, including iguanas and birds. Observe local people bathing and washing in the river as you learn about their day to day activities.

You'll feel your adrenaline kick in when you approach class-one rapids, which are smaller rapids that first-time river tubers can handle. Hold onto your inner tube for a fun river safari before disembarking and driving back to San Ignacio, with drop-off at your hotel.
